Bumper stickers usually advertise something ("McGehee women are leaders; you're following one now"), proclaim a belief ("Writing well matters") or make a joke ("Whirled Peas" as a parody of "World Peace"). Because they might be read from a distance and at some speed, they tend to contain only a few catchy words in large, bold print. If there is a design, it too is large and bold. Most are between 2¾ and 3 inches wide and 11½ or 12 inches long, though some might be smaller.
